If you can, get your hands on this compilation. Aside from being freaking brilliant, it’s made to raise awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS.

Artists involved are…
The wonderful David Byrne of Talking Heads fame.
The Dirty Projectors.
Bon Iver.
Sufjan Stevens.
Grizzly Bear.
Feist.
The Decemberists.
The New Pornographers.
Ben Gibbard, lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie.
Cat Power.
Arcade Fire.
Iron and Wine.
The National.
Jose Gonzalez.
And Stuart Murdoch, from Belle and Sebastian.
Prepare to be amazed. It makes me feel like I’m in a ‘Hansel and Gretel’ type wood (except without the psycho cannibalistic witch), surrounded by woodland creatures and doing cross stitch. It also makes me think of beards for some reason.

The weekend after Voices, I went to the Blueprint Festival. Which was, aside from the mud and the no toilet paper or no shower thing, excellent fun.
We camped in the middle of a paddock near Ararat and pretty much did nothing except for sit around and watch bands and drink coffee.
I saw bands like Claire Bowditch, Tim Rogers, Bertie Blackman, Ash Grunwald, Blue King Brown, The Panics, The Basics, Old Man River and a TON more.
Yeah…I had a good time.

I really do just love them.
Muse’s new album came out 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it.

It still has the epicness, it still has a few good solos, it has a few songs that make me want to dance like Anthony Michael Hall in ‘Sixteen Candles’, and then it has those beautifulsymphony tracks at the end. The progression they are making makes me think of Radiohead, which is a very good thing.
I was worried when they started playing tracks on Triple J. I love Muse dearly and didn’t want to have to deal with the unpleasantness of one of your favourite bands turning a bit crap.
But once you listen to the whole album, you get it.
And yes, I did cry when I listened to it. I am a little pathetic in that way. Okay, very pathetic.
I hope they come to Australia soon because I am simply dying to hear ‘Uprising’ and ‘Unnatural Selection’ live!
I give it two very enthusiatic thumbs up.

I made a new discovery recently.
And that is that God likes Radiohead.

No really, He does!
I’ve been avoiding listening to them a bit lately because I know that they tend to make me a little depressed. All I need to hear is “You and whose army?” on a bad day and I’m gone. But on the way home from work last week I decided to listen to “15 Steps”. But instead of getting all melancholy, I actually felt happy.
This may be a bit hard to understand for people who don’t love music as much as I do, but I have a very deep emotional connection with music. I find it very hard to separate it from myself. Sounds bizarre but that’s just me.
So when I was listening to “15 Steps”, which really is a cracking song, I was overwhelmed with the urge to dance, scream, cry, curl into a ball, grin like a manic, laugh and do various other embarrassing things that you shouldn’t do at a bus stop. I could feel God. All around me. It is a really hard feeling to explain. But I just knew it was Him. I felt optimistic. I felt joy. For a very brief three minutes, I felt hopeful.
See, God likes them. He used them to speak to me didn’t he?
I just bought Coldplay’s most recent album ‘Viva La Vida’ and fell in love with the song ‘Lost!’. I’d heard it before and liked it. But when I was playing it last night I had an ‘Oh yeah!’ moment. It was good.

Lost!, Coldplay
